12ozfrozen dark cherrieshalved
2 tablespoonsgranulated sugar
1tablespooncornstarch
1tablespooncorn syrup
1teaspoonalmond extract
½cupdark chocolate chips
1refrigerated piecrust
3tablespoonsheavy cream
3tablespoonslight brown sugar
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a large bowl, combine the cherries, sugar and cornstarch. Stir the cherries until evenly coated. Add the corn syrup, almond extract, and chocolate chips and mix until well combined.
Carefully roll out the pie crust on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Spoon the cherry mixture into the center of the piecrust. Spread out the cherry mixture, leaving a 2-inch (5-cm) bare margin around the crust. Bring the edges of the crust over the fruit, folding it over the cherry mixture.
Brush the crust with the cream and sprinkle with brown sugar.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown. Remove from the oven and let the galette cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
