Ingredients
6milk chocolate barsbroken into pieces
1cupheavy whipping cream
¾cupgranulated sugar
½cupunsalted buttercut into slices
⅛teaspoonsalt
3tablespoonsorange liqueuror creme de cocoa, both optional
Instructions
In a small pot, add the chocolate and melt over low heat, stirring often. Increase the heat to medium and add the heavy whipping cream, sugar, butter, and salt. Cook and stir constantly for about 5 minutes or until the butter has melted and the mixture has thickened.
Stir in orange or cocoa flavoring and bring to a slight boil. Continue boiling and stirring for at least 5 minutes to evaporate some of the alcohol while keeping the flavor. Transfer the mixture to a fondue pot or ceramic bowl and keep warm.
Serve with angel food cake cubes, marshmallows, strawberries, pretzels, or any other foods of your choice.
Notes
The alcohol is optional but recommended for the best flavor. I used orange liqueur for that delicious chocolate and orange flavor.
While bringing the chocolate to a boil may evaporate a bit of the alcohol, some alcohol will still remain. If you’re worried about having alcohol, omit it completely.
While cooking, constantly stir the chocolate to avoid it from burning on the bottom.
The butter does not have to be softened beforehand, but it will melt more quickly if it is.
Nutritional content is only given for the chocolate fondue, not for anything used to dip into the chocolate.
