Today is another installment of Tuesdays with Dorie.
Every other week or so a group of bloggers bake something from Dorie Greenspan’s book, Baking with Julia.
Today it is the French Strawberry Cake.
I do not have the recipe here on the blog, but you’ll be able to find it on Sophia’s blog, Sophia’s Sweets and on Allison’s blog, Think, Love, Sleep, Dine.
I did take pictures of the process though because that’s how I roll. Enjoy those and then I’ll let you know how I rated it.
I rate everything I bake on a scale of 1-4 with 4 being the best and this French Strawberry Cake earned 2 1/2 rolling pins due to baker’s error.
I know if the cake had been less dense, it probably would have earned a 3 1/2, if not a 4.
The whipped cream frosting was delicious and the strawberries were incredible.
The top two layers of the cake were fine and tasted really good, it was just the bottom that wasn’t so hot.
It was edible, definitely edible, the bottom was just a bit on the rubbery side.
Next time I make a genoise, note to self,: do NOT over fold and make sure you add the ingredients when it says to.
This dessert was an upscale strawberry shortcake and is perfect for this time of year when you come home from strawberry picking!
I give you BIG baking hugs and muffins!!

Sue, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to post the recipe, but you can find two sites that are listed up at the top that do have it so you can print it out. 🙂
