I didn’t hold back on the peanut butter factor in today’s Reese’s Rice Krispies, friends. Sure, you could just top your pan of traditional Rice Krispies Treats with a few peanut butter cups and call it a day.
But I thought to myself, “You only live once! Carpe Diem!” and bravely took the leap of adding more chocolate and peanut butter to my recipe. Call me a hero, if you must.
My family certainly sacrificed much having to eat Rice Krispie Treat after Rice Krispie Treat stuffed with Reese’s pieces and covered with chocolate. (Not!)
Ingredients to Make Rice Krispie Treats with Reese’s
Here’s everything you need to make the same ultra decadent, peanut buttery, chocolatey, heavenly bars we enjoyed.
- Rice Krispies cereal
- Butter
- Mini Marshmallows
- Creamy peanut butter
- Reese’s mini pieces
If you can’t find the mini Reese’s pieces, then the large ones will work just as well. - Chocolate frosting
You can use milk chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate fudge – whatever makes you happy! - Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Pro Tips
- Don’t forget to chop your Reese’s peanut butter cups into large pieces first! You can also swap them out for regular sized Reese’ or a different peanut butter cup brand if you prefer.
- Fold the Reese’s mini pieces in to the marshmallow mixture with half of the Rice Krispie cereal. Once they’re well incorporated, add the rest of the rice cereal.
- If you can’t find Reese’s mini pieces, swap them for regular Reese’s pieces or even peanut butter M&M’s.
One of my favorite things about these treats is that they’re so quick and easy to make. They’ll firm up at room temperature and be ready to cut and eat in no time. No baking or chilling required.

Oh my goodness! The krispies are amazing! I love chocolate and peanut butter together, Lynne! And the Reese on the top is just great! I can’t wait to make this!
Amysue says
I made these using chocolate marshmellow frosting…they were delicious!!! Easy too!!!
Lynne says
Amysue, what a great idea, love it! They must have been super delicious. 😉 Thanks for letting me know
Niki says
Could you do mini Reese cups in the bars in place of the pieces cause I would like to omit the frosting on top? And how many if so?
Connie says
I could not find Reeses “Mini” Pieces at my large grocery store. I thought, why not just smash some Reeses pieces? I put some in a ziplock bag & hit them with a hammer. Lol! This did not work well at all. It was so thick I couldn’t add the 2nd half of the Rice Krispies! It still tasted good–no, terrific!!–, but I say “Hold out for the real deal–MINI Reeses Pieces!” Otherwise, this will be a favorite in the future for sure!
Lynne says
Connie, I’m sorry those didn’t work out for you, but at least you were able to get some of your aggressions out, right? 😉
I have actually made them using the larger Reese’s Pieces, but only use about 1 1/4 cup in the recipe. That will work if you’re unable to find the smaller ones next time. Thanks for your comment and enjoy eating them again!

Looks yummy! I hope these made up for the fact she slept through choosing ballet slippers! Regards Lita Johnson
Kelly Green says
Hello! Can I make these without the milk chocolate frosting?
Lynne says
Kelly, you most definitely can leave the frosting off of them if you’d like. It’s not one of the essential ingredients like the marshmallows would be, and they’ll be quite delicious without it, too!
