Today was a crazy day and I had prepared some dough yesterday so that I could do my intended recipe for today, but it just wasn’t meant to be.
I was crazy productive though and I love that feeling.
But right now, I’m ready to crash and I’m looking at a sink full of dishes that I’m having to wash by hand because the dishwasher didn’t do it’s job after putting it through a cycle 3 times.
I prepared dinner this morning as the kids before I brought the kids to school. I love it when I can stick dinner in the crockpot, let it cook all day and have it ready after a busy day.
One word.
Awesome.
The dinner I made is by far a family favorite and has been one of my go-to meals for years, handed down from my grandmother on my father’s side.
Unfortunately, it isn’t baked, so I won’t be posting it until after 365 is over.
Ironically though, after reading that recipe card for I don’t know how many years, I saw today that it could be baked. Weird that I never saw it.
I haven’t ever prepared it that way, and I’ve got that mindset, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. It’s always just been so good in the crockpot that I’m just going to keep it that way.
A large part of my day, at least 7 hours, was spent preparing boneless, skinless chicken breasts that I purchased in bulk.
If you’re living in the U.S., I strongly encourage you to check out Zaycon Foods.
I am not receiving any compensation for this “plug”, I’ve just had such great results with this chicken, have purchased it at such a great price and now that it’s available throughout the U.S., I really want to share it with all of you.
Ok, that 7 hours probably freaked you all out, but a good 2 1/2 hours of that was driving to and from the location to pick it up.
The company offers the bulk sale about every 6 months. The chicken is sold in 40 lb. boxes, containing 4 10 lb. packages. The price has ranged from $1.49 to $1.69 per pound which, if you know your current chicken prices, is pretty good.
It is somewhat time consuming preparing 40 lbs. of chicken to go into the freezer, but I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to have it on hand, ready to go when I need it for a meal. It’s wonderful.
I purchased a FoodSaver which is a fantastic help in storing it and removing the air from the package so that there is no freezer burn. I love that thing.
I encourage you to go to the website and check it out and see if they are offering a Savings Event in your area or close to you.
The chicken is 100% natural and has no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients.
It is not and hasn’t been frozen, coming directly from the processor and is the freshest chicken our family has ever had.
We’ve been very pleased with the product, and now I don’t buy chicken anywhere else.
As I said, I’m not receiving anything for this, I just want you all to be able to take advantage of such a wonderful product at a great price. I did spend about $60.00 on this order and it is a large amount to pay up front. It comes to about $1.49 for a pound of chicken that is healthier than what you can purchase at the store and at a more expensive price.
So the chicken took up a good part of my day and then I volunteered at my son’s cross country meet, returning right at dinner time to a nice hot meal.
Then night falls and I have no natural light to take pictures, and it’s getting later in the evening, so I’ll do a review of…desserts.
Everybody LOVES desserts!
This is a simple yet lovely cake. Pound cake can be eaten plain or dressed up in many different ways. We like it with strawberries best.
This was the most delicious Blueberry Pie I had ever eaten. It was quite delicious and needless to say, didn’t last very long.
Creme Brulee can be a very intimidating dessert, but it was pretty simple. If you have a small kitchen torch you will create a beautiful dish provided you don’t get hypnotized watching the flame as you brown the sugar.
Just sayin’.
This dish should be made at least once in everyone’s life and is especially good with fresh berries on the top.
Hmmm… so far just fruity desserts.
What, no chocolate?!
Yes, I have had some chocolate desserts like these Malted Brownies which were really good.
Or the 365 house favorite, the Frgookie: delicious right out of the oven topped with some vanilla ice cream!
Can you tell we love this stuff?
I also had some cookies that were delicious such as the Chocolate Crinkles.
Or Giada’s Lemon Ricotta Cookies with Lemon Glaze. YUM!!
There are also many, many other desserts, but if I listed them all we’d be here all night and you need your sleep. If you want to find some more, you can do a search over on the right.
Sweet dessert dreams!
I give you all BIG baking hugs and muffins!!

I would love all of these desserts. I can’t believe you prepared 40 lbs of chicken?! That is NUTS! 🙂 I don’t think I have it in me. I would freak out at about 10 lbs. or so and perhaps shout swear words at the air and then delve into my secret stash of “the good stuff”…my sneaky box of chocolate.
