How to make Hot Cocoa Dip with Cream Cheese
This recipe works best with softened cream cheese, so make sure to set yours out ahead of time.
- Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder together in a large bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Fold in the Cool Whip or Stabilized Whipped Cream with a silicone spatula.
- Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and place mini marshmallows and holiday sprinkles on top of the dip before serving. Enjoy!
It really doesn’t get much easier than that!
Recipe Variations
- Use 1-2 hot chocolate packets instead of cocoa powder for a milder, sweeter flavor, and decrease the amount of powdered sugar to 1/4 cup.
- Not a Cool Whip fan? Try my homemade Stabilized Whipped Cream recipe instead.
- Add crushed candy canes and a half teaspoon of pure peppermint extract for a peppermint hot cocoa dip.
- Add white chocolate chips to make the sweet dip even richer!
- One of my favorite things to do is drizzle salted caramel sauce across the top for a salted caramel hot cocoa dip.
FAQS
What should I serve with Hot Chocolate Dip?
There are so many great dipper options for this hot cocoa dip recipe. These are some of my favorite dippers:
- Graham crackers
- Vanilla Wafers
- Golden Oreos
- Butter or shortbread cookies
- Chocolate chip cookies
- Pretzels
- Banana slices
- Fresh fruit like strawberries or apples
- Animal Crackers
- Cubes of Pound Cake
- And more!
How do I store leftover Cocoa Cream Cheese Dip?
Store the leftover dip in the fridge covered tightly with plastic wrap or in an airtight container for 4-5 days. The dip does firm up in the fridge, so if you want to serve it again later, let it thaw a bit by letting it sit at room temperature and re-stir before serving.
Can I make this dip ahead of time?
Yes. This delicious hot chocolate dip stores well in the fridge for up to 4-5 days, so feel free to make it 4-5 days in advance. Just be sure not to add the toppings until serving it, as marshmallows can get a weird texture after sitting in the dip in the fridge for a few days.
